Where Do I Find Cheap Baby Clothes?
ByOne common question that is asked by parents is "where do I find cheap baby clothes?".
There are many places to find cheap baby clothes. You can try cosignment shops (they resell used baby clothes-but only the really good clothes), goodwill, walmart, or auctions such as ebay.
Ebay is good because people sell clothes in bundles and you can buy 30 pieces for around 15 dollars which is a good deal because babies can grow very quickly.
I recommend buying basic essentials such as two package of onesies (6 pack) (if you get gerber make sure you buy a size bigger), zip up pjs, and a couple of comfy pants (the really soft cotton ones), socks, and a few shirts.
Also Try not to buy the “cute” outfits. Those are uncomfortable for newborns and be aware that anything with cotton will shrink…so if it looks small buy a size bigger…the clothes will last longer.

Salvation army/goodwill doesn’t like to carry cribs and playpens because they don’t want to train the staff in how to figure out if the product is safe or not because their goal is to train staff and have them move on so they can help more people get experience that they need to get a job, or they employ people with disabilities.
Second hand shops should have cribs, playyards, etc but they aren’t necessarily cheap.
Your best bet is freecycle: http://www.freecycle.org/
Craigslist is the second best: http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites
Also check out meetup.com and yahoo groups (I can’t even list the url without the http as yahoo answers blocked it) com for parenting groups near you. Try to find someone with a baby 6-12 months older than yours will be that will hand things down to you.
Make sure you get the safety checklist for cribs and carseats from your government (it varies by country). Buy a NEW crib mattress -you shouldn’t even use a crib mattress between siblings as it can increase the SIDS risks and they aren’t sure why the theories are the break down in fire-retardant and mold/mites in the mattress. Only accept a second hand car seat from someone that loves your kids as much as you do (close friends and family) you don’t need an infant seat you can use a convertible seat from birth (if that’s what you are offered, but generally people have infant seats to give as they are used for such a short time). Call the manufacturer to make sure the seat isn’t recalled or expired. -Remember most recalls are not to destroy the products its normally a small fix, and even if it is a destroy they replace it even if you got it for free.
Also check recalls: http://www.cpsc.gov/

Once Upon a Child, go there, and when your baby grows out of the clothes he/she is in, you can go back, exchange them for either store credit or cash.http://ouac.com/
Also, keep checking out Sears about once a month, cause 2 or 3 times a year, they have these awesome sales where you will be picking up name brand clothes for $2. And they also have the free kid advantage program where if your kid wears out their clothes, bring the clothes back (with the receipt) and you can get a free exchange, and for every $15 dollars you put on the Kid Advantage Program, you get a recipt with a coupon on the bottom.

Have you been to once upon a child, they always have cribs and strollers. Also yard sales are a great place to find cheap things like that. I went to several last year that had cribs, and my aunt wanted me to find her a stroller, I found one at the first yard sale I went to. Also try Craig’s list, you might have to go get it, but most of them sre very cheap and worth the 30 minute drive!

Sometimes walmart can be cheaper for clothes than second hand stores. As far as bigger items go (I am not sure where you live) but in Onatrio, we have places called Hand me downs or Once upon a child. Also, http://www.freecycle.org is an amazing site and is worldwide. You can post or reply to ads in your “group”. Everything is free and you can ask for anything. hope this helps and good luck with your little one!

I belong to the Yahoo Freecycle community. This is an exchange community with in your town or county. People list free things that they don’t need anymore and people who want them email the person. One is chosen and you go pick the stuff up. This is so we can keep good recycle – able stuff out of the land fills. In my community, we have several moms who recycle kids clothing around as soon as the kids outgrow them. That way, everyone wins. Yahoo search Freecycle and your area for the web page – good luck!

See if there is a local Free-cycle group in your area. Just post what you are in need of. No $$ exchanged–hence the “Free” part of the name. You may also want to check the yellow pages for pregnancy counseling–they can usually offer assistance on getting items for you. Good luck!

Yard sales are perfect for cheap stuff, and most of it is in good condition.
Try Ebay, sometimes you can find great deals!
Craigslist also is good.

Go to goodwill or discount stores that have nothing but used cloths. When I had no job and didn’t have much money saved up that’s where I went. The clothes are better than nothing.

YES! Children are expensive aren’t they? Well, you can try craigslist.com or freecycle.org. Freecycle would probably be a good start since everything offered is FREE you just have to be able to pick up the items.. If you are getting RID of things it’s also good to OFFER so you don’t appear “greedy” by the other members…. I’ve given away lots of baby apparell and gear on this site. You simply go to your general area and see what cities, are listed just be sure you CAN arrange and stick to a pick-up or you will be blocked by other members.. If you going to use formula to make your money or WIC or whatever go further get on the mailing lists for SIMILAC, ENFAMIL, NESTLE GOOD START etc… NOW you will recieve FREE samples, coupon/checks that you can use to buy formula… Ditto for diapers… Join the websites to get coupons.. It will stretch your dollar a bit… The formula coupons/checks you don’t use you can FREECYCLE I joined the sites but, nursed both my children so I would give-away cans of formula to members all the time….
Also, look at your community churches to look for baby bonanza sales in your area… They are usually held at churches, schools and other large venues 3-4 times a year and you can get GREAT finds for little money.. Also, try estate and garage sales..
Good luck
